Second Fix Carpentry Team Leader

Location: Southampton


Job Role & Requirements (Full time, permanent).

  • To lead and perform day to day tasks within the 2nd fix carpentry team, with the ability to lead the team also. Leading and allocating team members accordingly the daily production plan.

  • Working hands-on alongside the other team members, actively performing carpenters and joiners’ duties on the manufacturing and assembly of timber frame panels and other related tasks including other building materials.

  • Undertake a range of trades as required mostly for 2nd fix carpentry and joinery operations – installation of door linings making up door sets to include door furniture, windows, window boards, architraves, skirting, kitchens, and all other related operations.

  • Handling timber and timber products in all aspects of manufacturing, using wood working machinery to fit and finish grips to handgun frames, etc.

  • Take on a multiple task as per jobs to achieve and exceed delivery requirements.

  • Constantly improving and exceeding quality of work performance.

  • Ensure the tasks and performance carried out are within required productivity and quality, and in line with the drawings and technical information provided. Exceed the standard outlined where required.

  • Comply with workstation induction ensuring H&S processes & procedures are fully understood and adhered to.

  • Reporting straight to Production Manager

Ideal Candidate:

  • The ideal candidate will have experience in team management and using hand tools, within aspects of basic carpentry/joinery/bench joinery/woodworking or other relevant practical experience.

  • Experience of working on High end residential projects, particularly within the helm of 2nd fix carpentry would be beneficial.

  • At least three years’ trades experience.

  • Demonstrates good judgement in decision making.

  • Understands ‘Quality Assurance’ principles.

  • Can prioritise tasks and has good overall time management skills.

  • Uses initiative and can solve problems independently.

  • The successful candidate will be involved as a team member of the 2nd Fix carpentry/joinery station at it’s production facility based in Southampton SO40 3SA.
