Location: Southampton

GO_modular is looking for a Modular Projects Estimator to be a part of a team based in our Factory offices at Totton, Southampton and reporting to the Factory Management. You will be actively involved in much of the company's business!


  • Producing detailed cost budgets and prices (estimates) for manufacturing of modular units as well as tender/enquiry returns consisting of materials and a mixture of measured works to direct and in-direct labour using agreed schedule of rates

  • The measurement and valuation of potential projects (from drawings), for estimates and budget, interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Re-measurement of project quantities (from drawings) and Bills of Quantities

  • Monitoring costs to ensure budgets are met

  • Checking material sizes and quantities for procurement

  • Setting up and maintaining contract budget files

  • Preparing contract valuation and payment certificates; Agreement of valuation dates and preparing, submitting and agreement of interim valuations in accordance with those dates

  • Measure weekly work in progress for each live project and produce cost value reports for weekly management meetings

  • Prepare materials schedules

  • Prepare and issue materials enquiries

  • Work to schedule of rates (in factory environment)

  • Relentlessly develop and implement improvements in GO_modular estimating and budget system


Ideal Candidate:


This position will suit an accomplished Junior Estimator/Junior Quantity Surveyor keen to progress their career and skills within a Modular Manufacturer, who build bespoke, Residential & Commercial projects in South of England

  • Post graduate or work place experience

  • Five GCSE’s including maths and English language, or equivalent

  • Good degree of mathematical set-up of mind desired 

  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Excel, CAD and knowledge of CONQUEST and Sage Construction would be a distinct advantage

  • Ability to measure drawings and develop bills of quantities

  • Can prioritise and plan effectively, and have good overall time management skills 

  • Demonstrates good judgement in decision making

  • Use initiative, can solve problems independently

  • The ability to get on well with others and be able to calmly and effectively analyse problems as they arise and then quickly reach the right decisions as part of a team is vital

  • The willingness to learn and the will and desire to reach the highest standards, together with a positive attitude are essential
