Procurement/purchasing and Stock Officer

Location: Southampton

Job Description


The position is responsible for sourcing and purchasing the best quality construction and production materials, goods and equipment and services at the most competitive prices to enable a company to operate successfully. The position as well is involved in to keeping control and proper records over the stock to enable further timely and quality purchasing of goods.

As a procurement manager you will be directly involved in the sourcing and purchasing of products and services such as:

  • All production components (materials) to make modular units that GO_MODULAR manufactures and sells

  • Other goods and services for use by the company

You will be involved in sourcing suppliers, contract drafting, negotiation and managing suppliers through the whole procurement process. You will also deal with other factors such as sustainability, risk management and ethical issues and will report straight to the Commercial Director.

Your work will help G)_MODULAR save money, improve manufacturing process, increase profits and minimise waste.


  • conduct research to source the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality

  • undertake value for money reviews of existing contracts and arrangements

  • negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring the quality of service provided

  • ensure the security and sustainability of sources of essential products and services

  • forecast price trends and their impact on future activities

  • give presentations about market analysis and possible growth

  • develop and implement a procurement strategy

  • analyse data and produce reports and statistics on spending and saving

  • ensure suppliers are aware of business objectives

  • liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, internal teams such as supply chain, planning, project managers and production team and customers

  • Ensure checks to verify stock levels for consumables/fixings for re-ordering are accurate and appropriate.

  • Update computer system to enable accurate stock levels.

  • Assist with stock checks when required.

  • To participate in the continuous improvement of service delivery.

  • To respect the need for confidentiality, when processing personal/customer data.

  • Other such duties as may be required from time to time.





  • capability to build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers

  • good financial knowledge and analytical skills

  • a good knowledge and recognition of building materials is essential

  • experience of streamlining processes with the ability to look at a process and find ways to streamline and improve it

  • Methodical and technical mindset with good numeric skills

A full driving licence

Computer literate and knowledge of stock systems
